Central High School’s annual car show has finally arrived!

This event, which is organized by  Band Boosters and sponsored by O’Reilly Auto Parts, will take place on Central’s campus on May 6. Auto owners and motor enthusiasts alike will get the opportunity to see various customized and vintage vehicles. All of the proceeds that this event yields will help support Central’s band department.

“The money raised usually allows us to make purchases necessary for the summer season, along with paying for instruction for our summer camps and rehearsals,” explained Joshua Bloodworth, Director of Bands at Central.

Each year, the Car Show has received a positive response, attracting several hundred attendees. With this much support, the band program is able to earn a few thousand dollars.

The show will open at 9 AM, and will be held in the front of the school . The contest is open to automobiles from any year. Anyone interested in entering their car into the competition can register  for $15, by contacting Melony Martin at (423)-762-4022 in advance. If not, guests can still register their car for $20 on the day of the event. Gift bags will be issued to the first 50 entries.

The Jazz Band will be performing at 12:00 PM, along with the Concert Band 1:00 PM. Afterwards, the awards ceremony will be held at 2:00 PM. Car entries will be categorized into various show classes, such as: most original, best interior, best wheels, and best of show. Other classes, include: rat rods, trucks, Corvettes, and Mustangs. There are also separate categories based on the decade the cars were made. The top three cars in each category will be recognized.

Additionally, there is a chance to win door prizes and several businesses and vendors will have booths set up. These include businesses such as the McKamey Animal Center. If inclement weather arises, the Car Show’s date will be rescheduled for May 13.

The Car Show is entertainment perfect for the whole family! Come out and support your Central band department!
