According to an announcement by Ms. Nikki Broussard and the Central High Positivity Club, Mr. Nathan Dawson, who teaches Physics and Environmental Science, has been named as February’s “Teacher of the Month.”

Dawson was pleased with the recognition.

“I know the students relate to me and I can reach them,” stated Mr. Nathan Dawson “It’s funny how competitive some of the teachers get about it.”

In addition to the recognition, Dawson also received letters from students who nominated him that he thoroughly enjoyed reading.

“I won’t lie, there was a tear-jerker or two in there and I am honestly grateful to have impacted some of our students here at Central,” Dawson said.

Dawson loves working with kids labeled as the “bad kids”  to find out they were not as bad as they were labeled as such.

“Honestly, the printout of the letters is the most important thing I could get,” explained Dawson.
Mr. Dawson said that he wanted to thank Broussard for doing the hard work behind the scenes and that she deserves more recognition for improving the Teacher of the Month program.

“I also would like to say that a lot of my letters/votes actually came from former students and not students I have this semester,” he added.
