Business is Booming! Shop Local Chattanooga!
December 3, 2015
Chattanooga has grown rich in local businesses. Boasting its revitalized downtown, the entire city bustles with trendy shops and eateries. What makes this area so special is that many of these businesses are locally owned and operated. Just talking to people who work for local businesses in Chattanooga tells of how much heart goes into their jobs. Jack, who works at a local shop in North Shore, has been involved in local businesses for 15 years.
“[Local businesses] form a community,” explained Jack, “especially in a community like [Chattanooga].”
The people who start these businesses are as unique as their products. People like Charity Everett of Revel Pastry Company and John Sweet of Niedlov’s Breadworks make up the local business scene in Chattanooga.
Everett opened the doors of Revel Pastry Company in April of 2015. She loves the personal touch that local businesses give to their products.
“Community is lost in large corporations,” admitted Everett.
Everett uses fresh, locally-sourced ingredients in her products, and her love for what she does shows through in her fantastic pastries and baked goods. These ingredients provide her costumers with the best products possible.
“That way, you know what you’re giving your costumers,” explained Everett.
In addition, buying produce from local farmers is another way to support the local economy of Chattanooga and the surrounding area. Everett’s fantastic pastries are sold in several coffee shops around Chattanooga, including Revelator Coffee and Chattanooga Coffee Company.
Like Everett, John Sweet had a dream to open his own bakery. Niedlov’s has been in business for over ten years at their location on East Main Street.
“I love bread-making and wanted to share it with my community and use my business to make [Chattanooga] a better place,” expressed Sweet.
Niedlov’s products are featured in many restaurants in Chattanooga.
“This allows businesses to keep their corporate dollars here in town instead of sending them to large distributors,” stated Sweet.
