English 9 and 10 Instructor Misty Jones is Warmly Welcomed onto Central’s Staff
August 23, 2019
Each year, Central’s staff gains a multitude of qualified staff members, with this school year being no different. Misty Jones is the new ninth and tenth grade English teacher with high expectations for her students’ growth.
Jones started out majoring in pre-law, however, she quickly decided that it was not the path for her.
“Then, [I] really thought about what I wanted to do with my life, and I always came back to education,” said Jones.
After making the decision to pursue her calling, she now has 23 years of teaching experience. Jones chose to continue her career at Central because her husband, Curt Jones, has already been coaching and teaching at the school. He would always mention the hard working students and positive atmosphere prominent in the school.
“This is the third school that we have worked at together, so it now feels odd if we are not teaching together,” Jones said.
For the past three years, Jones has taught at Notre Dame High School. There is quite a difference between private and public schooling. Despite that, she stated that the transition has been very smooth.
Outside of school, some of Jones’ hobbies consist of reading, watching football, and spending time with her family. One thing that she loves about Central so far is how welcoming people have made the new environment.
“My favorite thing about Mrs. Jones so far this year is how well she explains things to us and helps us understand the lesson that is being taught,” stated Sophomore Haroun Ghazi.
Jones has a real connection with her students. She strives to treat each student as though he or she was a child of her own, helping each of them reach their full potential. Jones’ hopes that her compassion and diligence will reflect in her students and set them up for future success.
