Central Softball has had a busy week, playing games against the Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences, Red Bank, Lookout Valley, Notre Dame, East Ridge, East Hamilton, and Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy. When the dust had settled, the Lady Pounders claimed six victories to one defeat on the softball diamond.

Coach Jon Massey was impressed with the team’s pitching during the win streak that saw Central overpower opponents by the score of 84-0.

“The team just needs to work on not giving up runs and making routine plays, “ shared Massey. “Kirsten Williams and Mikiah Tate  both pitched really well. The team hit well and stole a lot of bases this week.”

On Monday March 28, Central beat CSAS 15-0 with Williams pitching and recording her second win of the season. Calli Morgan, Ashlynn Wood, Jordan Parker, and Emma Lakin were all hitting stars against CSAS.

The following day, Central beat Red Bank 18-0. Tate pitched and recorded her second win of the season. Multiple RBIs and runs were scored by Lakin, Parker, and Schwarzl.

On Thursday, Central beat Notre Dame 18-0 with Tate again pitching. Dasia Wood, Ashlynn Wood, Morgan and Parker were all big factors in the win. Massey noted that Morgan and Williams stood out with their strong defense.

Central beat East Ridge 18-0 on Friday afternoon. Ware recorded a one-hitter for the win and had two doubles. Ashlynn Wood and Parker were big hitters, as well as Schwarzl who hit her second home run of the season.

On Monday April 4, Central played East Hamilton and Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy. Central lost against East Hamilton, but won 15-0 against CGLA. During the win, Williams pitched and recorded her third win of the season and Tate hit her first home run of the season. McCarthy, Schwarzl, Lakin and Parker all had big days at the plate.

“I’m super proud of how we have been playing this week. We are finally working together as a team. As the season progresses, I expect the team to get even better and continue winning games,” stated Morgan, a senior.

The Central Softball team is currently 9-7. The season continues this Saturday playing Knoxville Central and Lenoir City.
