This year, many students are taking Agriscience with Mr. Jeremy Kaylor, who came from Hixson high school to Central. The subject consists of far more than just farming and plants. Forestry, aquaculture, livestock and
plant production, fabrics and everything else that provides a basis for consumed products in our civilized society as well as processes around it are part of Agri science.
Even though Kaylor has some very interesting ideas for the development of his class he says, “My only goal for this year is to get my students interested in agriscience.”
Up to this point the feedback from the students is definitely positive especially the engineering part was seen as helpful and interesting. Student Alejandra Vargas Torres says: “We learn a lot of hands-on stuff that is going to be useful later in life”.
The class will soon start to grow their own crops inside the classroom, until the construction of the greenhouse on campus is finished. Kaylor is planning on having different classes in his pathway to take care of the greenhouse and still provoke interest in the new students. This way students can choose what is most important to them and
develop their own interests.
