The Lady Pounders took on Notre Dame with high hopes. Central played well, and pushed throughout the game. Although Central played their best, Notre Dame’s offense was stronger and the team lost 65-21. The team continued to stay strong and push through. The Lady Pounders then started to prepare to take on GPS the following day.

Sophmore Haiden Harness stated, “I felt good about the game against Notre Dame, we played our best and even with the loss, we kept our heads high and were proud of the way we played.”

Central then left the home of the Purple Pounders to travel and take on GPS. The team was very confident in themselves and were ready to win. The Purple Pounders went into the first half not as a team. They did not play their best, which costed them in the end. During the second half of the game, the team realized, and pushed through the game. The team finished strong even with the loss. The game finished with a score of 65-9, but the team did not let this discourage them and were ready to take on the Red Bank Lions.

“The team played well the second half of the game against GPS. I was proud of the way I played, but was very discouraged that we (the team) were not all on the same page. It is something myself, and the team, are working on,” shared Senior Alissa Walton.

The team later in the week traveled to play against the Red Bank Lions. With the losses from the last few games, Central was determined to win against Red Bank. The Lady Pounders went into the game strong and confident. Central came out on top with the final score of 47-19. The win was a huge confidence boost for the team, and has helped with preparation for future games. Central worked hard and played well, which benefited them in the end.

Harness shared, “Some of the main highlights from the game were when we would do a pitch down court for the fast break lay ups. The pieces are starting to come together now for the team over all.”

The Lady Pounders are now ready to take on Ooltewah High School Monday, December 6. The team is also ready to take on East Ridge High School Tuesday, December 7. The Lady Pounders are feeling very confident as a team, and has high hopes for the games.
