Lady Pounders Finish Regular Season Strong, Prepare for District Tournament

With the Central girls basketball season over, the team continues to hold their heads high and prepare for the district tournament. The team played well throughout the regular season with a hand full of wins. Now, the team is preparing with high hopes for the district tournament. The Lady Pounders took on rival team East Hamilton on February 4.  Although the team played well, Central took a devastating loss. The following week, Central played against Soddy Daisy High School, and Ooltewah High School. The team lost both games, but played well and pushed through both games.

Junior Rayn Glover stated, “The game against Soddy Daisy was a good game for the team. Although we lost, we played well and connected on the court with one another.”

Central Lady Pounders traveled to East Hamilton High School to play against the Lady Hurricanes. The team played well the first two quarters, but were down 35-5. By the time halftime came around, the Lady Pounders put their heads together and were ready to take on the last two quarters. Central lost with the final score of 75 -9. Although the team played well, the Lady Pounders took a tough lost against the Lady Hurricanes.

“I feel good about the teams regular season. Although the season wasn’t the best, we played our best and grew throughout the season. I am very excited to start the District Tournament, and have high hopes for the each of us,” shared Sophomore Haiden Harness.

A few days later, the Central Lady Pounders stayed home to play against Soddy Daisy. The team had high hopes for the game and were ready to win. The team started off strong in the first two quarters with a score of 40-10. During halftime again, Central got their heads together and finished the game strong. The team sadly lost with the final score of 75-16. The Central Lady Pounders did not let this bring them down and held their heads strong.

With the regular season finished for the team, the girls prepare for the district tournament with hopes of finishing strong. The Lady Pounders have been preparing in many ways, and are working hard to represent the Central Lady Pounders basketball.
