Boys Basketball Prepares for Upcoming 2022-2023 Season
November 21, 2022
The Central Pounders Boy’s Basketball Team is quickly coming to a start. The team lost some good players from last year, as they are off at college now; however, the team will not be letting that stop them from being an all around great team this year. Like last year, Kantonio Davis will be the teams head coach.
Junior Matthew Sharp is already looking forward to this years season.
“I think this season is going to be good,” commented Sharp. Sharp was one of the teams leading scorers last season.
“We are just going to have to always give it our all,” Sharp continued on to say.
Tryouts for the team began on October 31. Players had to have a current physical and good grades in order to tryout. Before the season starts the boys always staying after school Monday-Thursday to condition and stay in shape; they also do drills to prepare them for the season that will be arriving soon.
The team had a few losses last season but they still always gave it their all and continued to push through, which is all that really counts. They had a challenging start but they grew tremendously through the season. Playing basketball is not always about winning; it is also about the skills, communication, and work ethic. Last season the boys had an outstanding season and they always learned to come together as a team and play as a team, win or lose.
The first home game of the season is being held on Tuesday, November 29 at 7:30 pm. Be sure to show up and show your Pounders some love!
