Central High School has had many creative students express their artistic skills by painting murals around the campus, in the past school years. This year, Central has welcomed multiple artistic ideas by offering an opportunity in creating a new mural in SRO Soyster’s office. The decision to liven up the office was made at the beginning of the school year when Soyster arranged plans with the Art Department to get some students who would be interested in painting some murals.

“Last school year people who would come into my office complained about how drab it was, so I decided to solve the problem while encouraging creative expression,” explained Soyster.

According to SRO Soyster, the murals represent the creative minds and abilities of the students painting them.

There are four students in total involved in the paintings. Lilli Lively, Cassidy Dummer, Sam Reels, and Lexi Valliere, all of which are seniors who volunteered at the beginning of the school year. According to the students of Central High, the art mural does have an effect on SRO Soyster’s office.

“I am not sure exactly how the art murals are changing the atmosphere of his office, but in my point of view I think it’s a little unexpected. I mean you go into his office and the first thing you see is a flag with his hand and a badge, whereas before his only decoration was clipboards,” expressed Cassidy Dummer, a senior helping with the project.

Students at Central hope to see a change of mood in SRO Soyster’s office. They also hope to see a representation of creative thinking and the artistic abilities of those involved in painting the murals.
