Walker, Graham will Represent Senior Class and Faculty as Graduation Speakers
Graduation is set for May 17 at Finley Stadium
March 29, 2022
Graduation speakers representing the Class of 2022 and the faculty have been announced. Janna Walker will speak on behalf of the senior class and Jack Graham will speak on behalf of the faculty at the 2022 graduation.
The class representative is elected by the student body to represent them, and the faculty representative is chosen by Central High School staff. For the senior class of 2022, the class representative is Janna Walker and the faculty representative is Jack Graham.
Class representative Janna Walker was selected by members of the graduating class and has spent all four years of high school at Central. She has been in the National Honor Society (NHS) since she was a junior, as well as the Beta Club for two years and the yearbook staff.
“I plan on going to school to become a dentist and have my own dentistry,” she said when asked about her future.
Among her achievements are receiving academic achievement awards all four years and receiving a full scholarship to Tennessee State University in Nashville. For her leadership, academic, and social skills she also received the dependability superlative as recognized by her classmates. She added that although this was an unexpected nomination, she feels very honored to receive it.
“She’s a good representation for the class,” noted Ms. Casey Hale. “She’s always on-point and polite. I think she’ll do great things for our community in the future.”
Graham received the superlative for leadership from his classmates. He has also been in the Beta Club and NHS. Beyond that, he has been part of the JROTC (Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps), cross country, and track teams. While in the JROTC, he has been recognized as a successful individual many times. He achieved the Superior Cadet Award (2021), the Purple Heart Award (2020), and the Special Forces Excellence Award. Among his successes, he was elected as class president for all four years.
In addition to his academic achievements, he has taken part in many food drives, toy drives, and blood drives. Plus, after working hard in the Boy Scouts of America, he earned the recognition of Eagle Scout, the highest achievement a boy scout can achieve and only 4% of scouts earn this.
“I am excited to represent the faculty for all that they have helped me achieve over the years,” Graham said.
His plan for the future includes attending the Air Force Academy in Colorado and eventually becoming an officer in that branch. He would like to study bioengineering.
These two individuals embody good character and citizenship. They have spent a great amount of time and effort to accomplish so much in just four years. The character, leadership, and care they show make them more than worthy for class and faculty representatives.
Graduation will be held at Finley Stadium in downtown Chattanooga on Tuesday, May 17, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
