Central High School seniors are planning to attend an overnight National Beta Club trip starting November 28 and finishing the 30. During this trip, students will get to experience a Beta Club convention, and show off some of their personal talents. This 2022-2023 Beta Club convention for Tennessee will be held at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Seniors are looking forward to this trip and discovering more of what Beta Club has to offer.

The National Beta Club is a large known educational youth organization that has helped students become leaders for over 80 years. Beta Club is run by the staff from schools students attend. To be invited to join Beta Club at Central High School, students must have a good record, and an A and B average. This is different for each school as the administrator of that school determines students’ requirements to be invited.

“This trip is a good way for students to experience everything Beta Club has to offer. This trip will also allow seniors to meet new students from different schools and connect with people they have never met before,” exclaimed Central High’s college advisor, Mrs. Stacy Alexander.

This overnight trip is a Beta Club Convention which will include 10,000 seniors. During this trip, these students will be participating in various competitions for the convention. Some of these competitions include: Beta spelling bee, robotics showcase, marketing and communications, musicology, quiz bowl finals, and more. Mrs. Alexander and Central’s senior counselor, Mrs. Thomas, have attended multiple Beta Club conventions and are excited for these seniors to grow as students and young adults.

Senior Tyson Dean shared, “I got the chance to experience a Beta Club trip in middle school, so I’m looking forward to seeing the difference between middle and high school. I’m very excited to compete at the convention, and meet new people!”

Central High School hopes to attend more upcoming events such as these. Staff and students are both excited about the trip and the learning experiences that will come out of it as well. Beta Club students who would like to attend can contact Mrs. Alexander for any more information about the trip.
