On Friday, April 29, the Central High School JROTC program will be hosting its second blood drive of the year. This event will take place in front of the Armory from 7:30 am to 1:30 pm. The Blood Drive has been a tradition for Central High School since 2008. The event will be run by cadets: Ashley Wellington, Isabelle Moody, Maria Albarran, Dwayne Middleton, Taylor Brock, Anderson Portillo, Ta’Ney Green, Mckayla Hadland, Maurice Feilker, Jeremiah Hingleton, Christian Rubio, ZyAnne Alford, and Addison Ramsey.

“Most of the running and setting up for the Blood Drive is done by the JROTC cadets.” Master Sargent Dupree stated.

Students who want to donate blood will need to be at least 16 years of age and weigh at least 110 pounds. The students who donate blood will be able to leave their class for the whole block in order to donate. From past students who have donated blood, they’ve said that it’s a very easy process, the only hard part is the needle. In order to be able to donate blood, you’ll need to get a sign-up form from the cafeteria.

In past years, the Blood Drive only took place in the fall, but this year they’re able to do one in the spring. Central’s JROTC program is very excited to be able to host its annual Blood Drive and each person who donates will be helping save people’s lives who are in need of blood. For every one pint of blood, three people’s lives will be saved.

Once you donate blood, you will have the opportunity to go to Mr. Cuttle’s “Mr. Chills” ice cream boat between the baseball and softball fields.
