July Lim (11), whose full name is Sokdavin Lim, is originally from Cambodia in Southeast Asia. Since moving to the United States, she has worked hard to adjust to a new culture while continuing to stay true to her roots. Growing up as an only child, July learned the value of independence, dedication, and perseverance. She is especially proud of her ability to use English, her second language, to succeed academically and communicate effectively in her new environment. July believes strongly in the idea that “everything happens for a reason,” and she encourages others to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth. July enjoys sharing her story to inspire others who may face similar experiences adapting to life in a different country.
