Class Officers on the Rise at Central
Officers have been selected for the roles of leadership of their classes this year. In the past years, officers have made differences and taken stands for their classes. Most people say that it is a privilege to be in office. Others take it as a joke.
“You can say it’s a honor because it makes me feel like I’m a leader, and it gives me support from my peers,” said freshman President Monet Henderson.
Officers give a speech to their class, and then their peers have one vote for each office. Last year, Secretary Lakia Chin ran for office and did not win, but that did not stop her from pursing her dream. Her sophomore year, Chin was voted secretary of her class.
“It feels goods to be able to win. I feel like I can finally interact with others in my class and make a difference,” she shared proudly.
The selected officers all share a common bond with what they think our school should be like this year. Kassidy Hope pointed out that there is a time when one should break out of his or her shell and stand out.
“It’s my senior year, and I have been kinda shy my whole high school career. I wanted to try something new (this year). Show others that I can do it,” Hope stated.
Listening to the officers speak about their plans far as where they want to lead the school makes one realize that they are really trying make a difference in their school community.
As an addition to officers this year , the alumni are willing to partner up with the officers to help keep the school history going once they are gone – and once we are gone as well.
