Army Is In Their Future: Seniors Clark, Pruitt, Hale and Davis
March 10, 2017
The future is a scary time for seniors. While some debate what college they want to go to, and others decide what job to pursue, Central seniors CharNiece Clark and Cady Pruitt have signed up for the army.
Being in the JROTC program for four years, CharNiece Clark has learned discipline and leadership as well as becoming more mature than others her age.
“I had CharNiece for four years, and I know her well. I think she is an excellent candidate. She’s dependable and responsible. It’s also a part-time service and that allows her to further her education ” shared JROTC instructor, Colonel Brooks.
Clark has signed up for a six-year contract with the National Guard. Her basic training starts in September in South Carolina.
“I like being part of the National Guard. It’s a good feeling,” stated Ms. Clark.
The second senior, Cady Pruitt, has never a member of JROTC. Her job in the army will be combat engineering (12B).
“I signed a six-year contract, but after that, I’m planning to sign up as a life-long combat engineer,” stated Ms. Pruitt.
A combat engineer detonates explosives and constructs bridges and obstacles to later blow them up.
“At first, I only wanted the payment for college, but I later began seeing it as a profession. It pays for anything and helps you out with anything you might need,” commented Pruitt.
Pruitt will go into the combat engineer basic training on July 24th in Georgia.
Seniors Jyra Hale and Jazmine Davis are also planning to be part of the army with their respectful job focus.
The Central Digest is proud of these students and hopes they are successful.
