Clair Athernton teaches ap biology and chemistry. She is from Pennsylvania and moved to Memphis during 2020. She recently moved to Chattanooga. She went to Washington and Jefferson College. So far she has enjoyed teaching at Central High School. Her favorite book is Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer. She said she wanted to work at Central because of the environment between coworkers and administrators and wanted to be a part of the community. When she was in college she had a professor who taught organic chemistry and she got inspired by how easy going and fun he made the subject and she wanted to do the same for other people. Teaching may be challenging but she has learned to overcome it with the joy of interacting with students. She hopes to continue to teach chemistry and later down the road become an instructional coach for teachers.
