The Life of a Cheerleader

Cheerleaders are often portrayed as mean girls in the media. Most of the books and movies are inaccurate. Central cheerleaders are spirit leaders! They set examples for everyone watching. Our cheerleaders are hospitable when it comes to newcomers, visiting the school or joining it. Central cheerleaders are the face of school that never stops welcoming everyone with a big smile. But even through the smiles they occasionally face hardship they must overcome.

Cheerleading is a sport, a sport that requires hard work and dedication, when in question any cheerleader would agree. “Cheer in high-school is more tough than middle school cheer. Cheer is something I actually enjoy and love. I actually go home and practice to get better so I will not fall behind.” quoted from Central High’s freshman cheerleader, Marley Lovelace. Many cheerleaders find joy in just being a cheerleader. The duty of a cheerleader is to spirit lead, perform, and have fun! “It’s very fun, you get to do bonding activities with the girls on the team, also practice will be fun cause we make it fun. I love learning and doing new cheers, dance and stunts.” “I love to cheer so I love what I do and I do it well.” quotes from Central High’s sophomore, Abigail Juneau. Cheerleading is what you make it.
