Ms. Maté’s Art Club is in the process of painting a mural on the side wall in the art room. The idea for the mural was created by senior club member Serenity ‘Fin’ Staffords who has had the help of fellow club members with painting the mural.
The club decided on painting a sky and landscape mural with the school colors (purple & gold) incorporated to bring a combination of school spirit and art. They have been working on the mural for around a month. Club members say the hardest part was coming up with the idea of what the mural will look like.
Junior club member Cadence Smith believes the “easiest part of the mural is painting it.”
There have, however, been some setbacks with the mural because of the snowstorm a few weeks ago. Also, the club only has forty-five minutes four days a week to work on it. Additionally, some students who aren’t a part of the club paint on the mural in places they shouldn’t. This causes club members to waste time and resources having to cover the mistakes students made.
Ms. Maté said they work on the mural “whenever they have spare time and motivation.”
The club expects to complete the mural in the next month or two if there are not any more unexpected setbacks.
