On Thursday, February 29, 2024, the Central Voices had their first-ever Black History Concert at Bayside Baptist Church. It started at 6:30 pm and ended at 7:00 pm. They sang songs like “Wade in the Water”, “Lean On Me” and many more. There were also piano performances
Kyla Bonds, a senior, is part of Central Voices and performed at the concert. She described the night as having “good vibes and good energy”
Trinity Gates, a Sophomore, who is also part of Central Voices and performed at the concert, said that some of the songs could be described as difficult but it was a good night. She explained that there was only a little nerves until you got up on the stage.
Schools days after the concert you can hear many teachers and factuality members completing different students from the Central Voices, praising them for their amazing performance and good singing. Ms. Cochran, Mr. Parsons, Ms. Farrow, and Mr. Osterberg went to the concert.
Mr. Osterberg states “Trinity did amazing!”
Mrs. Latham, the choir and piano teacher, says that she greatly appreciated all the support from all the students who helped with planning the concert and parents who attended the concert. She specifically thanks Ashari Roberson for giving them the idea of having the Black History Concert.
