The 2023 football season came to an end on Thursday, October 26, with a win over the McMinn Central Chargers. The start of the season did not look good for the Pounders. Central was 0-3 going into week 4, looking for a win over the Tyner Rams. The Pounders came close to a victory but lost in overtime, 27-21. A 0-4 start to the season was not what the Pounders were hoping for. Their first wins came over the Soddy Daisy Trojans, 28-14, and the Sweetwater Wildcats, 34-23. The Pounders needed a win over the Brainerd Panthers to move into the playoffs. The Pounders gave up a 20-0 lead at halftime and lost a hard-fought game 22-20. The Pounders ended their last two games of the season with wins over Howard Tech, 42-0, and McMinn Central, 62-55. In the end, the Pounders went 4-6 overall and placed 5th in the district.
